Custom Solutions: Advancing Language through Advanced Technology
Over the past several years, Voxtec has painstakingly researched and created a library of vital phrases that help users in several industries control important situations through clear and effective communication. As a result, Voxtec’s translation systems are in active use in military, law enforcement, corrections, emergency medical response and construction applications.
But the technology behind our industry-leading solutions is a by-product of our main passion: Fielding reliable translation systems that equip our users to take on the growing language barriers of today with an eye towards the challenges of tomorrow. That pursuit has led us to help customers develop custom language modules that meet very specific needs. The results can be powerful enough to transform the way cultures interact – and may even help revitalize entire languages.
Contact Voxtec to discover how we can help you develop a custom language module.
Indigenous Language Revitalization
To date, more than 95 Native American Tribes, Indian Organizations and Canadian First Nations Peoples' have utilized or currently use Voxtec's Phraselator® P2 combined with its content authoring Module Builder PRO software to support a comprehensive program of indigenous language revitalization.
Voxtec has successfully launched a "do it yourself" version of Module Builder PRO software enabling Tribes, Indian Organizations and First Nations the ability create their own content, such as: complete dictionaries, commonly spoken phrase sets, family traditions, oral histories, and classroom language learning lessons. Words, phrases, and organized lessons created in Module Builder PRO, can be text and audio translated by a fluent indigenous speaker, then compiled for use on the handheld, rugged, easy-to-use Phraselator P2. The Phraselator P2 and Module Builder PRO software are becoming a larger part of a new, "blended" learning approach in native schools and indigenous language academies across North America, who are combining traditional teaching methods with the latest technological advancements.
Language learning students, young and old, enjoy working with the Phraselator P2. The professional-grade P2 gets high praise for its rugged design that can withstand being dropped and operation outdoors where rain and dirt can cause less expensive, consumer-grade devices to fail. The Phraselator P2's large full color, day or night readable touchscreen make accessing and seeing words and phrases displayed on the P2 easy. The P2's software and built in noise cancelling microphone enable students to record new words or phrases with the help of fluent indigenous speakers directly on device - in the classroom, at home, indoors or outside - whenever a new word or phrase is required. The Phraselator P2's high fidelity audio speaker will broadcast words and phrases loud and clear - and the P2 can be easily connected to a loudspeaker or public address system for large group presentations.
If a Native American Tribe, Indian Organization or Canadian First Nation does not wish to purchase the "do it yourself" version of Module Builder PRO software, Voxtec offers full-day professional training courses, facilitated at your location, by Voxtec associates who train your staff on how to use the Phraselator P2 and Module Builder PRO software and work side-by-side your fluent indigenous speakers to create and record custom language content. As always, by choosing Voxtec's Phraselator P2 and Module Builder PRO software, Indian Tribes and First Nations will RETAIN full control over the recorded language content within their own communities.
