Custom Solutions: Advancing Language through Advanced Technology
Over the past several years, Voxtec has painstakingly researched and created a library of vital phrases that help users in several industries control important situations through clear and effective communication. As a result, Voxtec’s translation systems are in active use in military, law enforcement, corrections, emergency medical response and construction applications.
But the technology behind our industry-leading solutions is a by-product of our main passion: Fielding reliable translation systems that equip our users to take on the growing language barriers of today with an eye towards the challenges of tomorrow. That pursuit has led us to help customers develop custom language modules that meet very specific needs. The results can be powerful enough to transform the way cultures interact – and may even help revitalize entire languages.
Contact Voxtec to discover how we can help you develop a custom language module.
Indigenous Language Revitalization
Voxtec is collaborating with the organization, Wind Talkers United, to distribute and support its Phraselator® P2, a handheld language translation and revitalization system across the United States and Canada.
Wind Talkers United will work side-by-side fluent speakers to create and record custom language modules in their indigenous language, which will then be stored and accessed from the P2. Wind Talkers United will provide on-site training and support to indigenous language teachers and speakers throughout Native American and Canadian First Nation communities. They will record among the last fluent speakers of each language. With the P2, Indian tribes and First Nations RETAIN full control over the recorded language content within their own communities. Wind Talkers United will provide the training and tools to create and manage their own recordings for use on the P2.
To date, more than 90 tribes and Indian organizations are using Voxtec's P2. The list below highlights some recent clients:
- Comanche Tribe
- Delaware Nation
- Cheyenne Tribe
- Pechanga Tribe
- Nakota Tribe
